Gothenburg’s International Film Festival is the only pro-bono project that Bobby is committed to. The collaboration started back in 2007 and since then the number of festival memberships has increased by 29% and the number of purchased tickets is increasing each year. We sincerely hope that the 34th film festival will reach new records for GIFF.
Amongst last year’s large number of visitors were a lot of people who took a great liking to the signature film that was shown before every main film. The signature film even got votes in the Audience Awards prize category.
Last year’s signature film shows us a moving dragon fetus in a strikingly beautiful way and it is running as a TV commercial during the festival this year. The concept development of the dragon film is from SCP and the digital production company Bobby.
This year the signature film shows the dragon fetus resting peacefully in its egg and how different film sounds surrounding him affects and awakes him. The dragon and organic structures were conceptualized and designed by Feiner Arts and Tommy Östberg from SCP. The inspiration comes partly from pictures of human embryos photographed by Lennart Nilsson. We have also been looking at different animal fetuses such as ostrich and crocodile embryos to make the dragon look as realistic as possible.
The 28th of January is the release date of the new signature film. There is 600 production hours behind the creation of this year’s signature film, excluding the massive rendering time. “There are approximately 925 frames of the dragon and some of the frames took eight hours to render”, says Richard Blank, 3D artist.
